International Case Research Association ("ICRA," "we," "us," or "our"), an organization under the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit caserearch.org, create an account, purchase a membership, or otherwise interact with us.
1. Scope
This Policy applies to personal information processed by ICRA in connection with our website and memberships. It does not cover third-party sites we link to (such as case publishers). Our Terms of Service describe membership products and site use rules.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Identity and contact data — name, email address, username, affiliation, and similar profile fields.
- Membership and checkout data — plan selected, billing address, order history, and for Corporate memberships, up to five named attendees’ names and emails collected at checkout.
- Communications — messages you send via contact forms, email, or case-proposal inquiries.
- Technical data — IP address, browser and device type, approximate location derived from IP, referring pages, and cookies or similar technologies needed to operate and secure the site.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information except where you choose to include it in free-text communications.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Create and administer accounts and authenticate logins.
- Provide and administer memberships, including Individual (US $100/year) and Corporate (US $300/year) annual memberships purchased as non-recurring terms unless otherwise stated at checkout.
- Process payments and send transactional messages (receipts, account notices, and membership-related service email).
- Respond to inquiries, support requests, and case-related correspondence.
- Maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
- Improve the site and understand aggregate usage patterns.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Membership and corporate attendees
When you purchase a Corporate membership, we collect names and contact details for up to five attendees so we can associate them with the membership and communicate membership benefits. The purchaser is responsible for having permission to provide those details. Attendees may contact us to update or remove their information subject to operational and legal constraints.
5. Payment processing
Payments are processed by Stripe through Easy Digital Downloads. Card numbers and payment credentials are handled by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers on our servers. Stripe processes payment data under its own privacy policy and terms. We receive limited payment metadata (such as last four digits, brand, and transaction status) needed for receipts and support.
6. When we share information
We may share personal information with:
- Service providers who host the site, send email, process payments, or provide security and analytics — only as needed to perform services for us.
- Professional advisors (such as accountants or counsel) under confidentiality obligations when reasonably necessary.
- Authorities when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- A successor organization if ICRA is involved in a merger, restructuring, or transfer of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
7. Service providers
Our typical providers include web hosting, WordPress-related tooling, Stripe for payments, and transactional email delivery. They process data on our behalf under contractual or standard safeguards appropriate to their role and are not authorized to use your information for their own marketing.
8. International transfers
ICRA is organized in Ontario, Canada, and serves a global academic and professional community. Your information may be processed in Canada and in other countries where our providers operate. Those jurisdictions may have different data-protection laws than your home country. We take steps appropriate to the context to protect personal information when it is transferred.
9. Retention
We retain account and order records as long as needed to provide memberships, meet accounting and legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it where reasonably practicable.
10. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including HTTPS, access controls, and payment processing by PCI-oriented providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong unique password for your account.
11. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, email us using the contact below. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You can update many account details by signing in to My Account.
12. Cookies
We use essential cookies and similar technologies for login sessions, checkout, security, and remembering preferences. Analytics or marketing cookies, if introduced later, will be described here or in a cookie notice and, where required, controlled through consent tools.
13. Children
Our services are directed to professionals and academics and are not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Significant changes may also be communicated by email or site notice where appropriate.
