Hadi Chapardar
Dr. Hadi Chapardar is an assistant professor at MacEwan University’s School of Business, specialized in strategy and sustainability. Being trained in Ivey Business School’s well-established case tradition, Hadi is a frequent user of cases as an inseparable element in his teaching. Hadi also contributes to the realm of casework by developing both teaching cases and research-focused case studies—the latter includes single- and multiple-case scholarly research in phenomenon-driven areas. His studies include different business contexts addressing sustainable business models, circular economy, sustainability tensions, and internationalization. With respect to his pedagogical philosophy, rather than using cases to provide a discussion context, Hadi focuses on a problem-driven case approach. In this approach, learners start with exploring and precisely framing a particular issue, followed by designing a unique problem-solving process that can address the identified issue, and finally, the practice of addressing the issue using the designed problem-solving process. Hadi believes that in a world characterized by complexity, ambiguity, interpretability, and uncertainty, this approach is a promising way to prepare managers for a sustainable future.
