Mike Annett
Dr. Mike Annett is a Department Chair and Associate Professor at MacEwan University School of Business, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He researches, teaches, and advocates for effective and socially responsible management. Specifically, his work focuses on human resource management and the systems that organizations use to manage and support their workforce.
Dr. Annett’s teaching goal is to help students gain practical knowledge and experiences that will enable them to step directly into professional HR roles. His classes involve addressing real-life HR problems, understanding current events, and creatively applying fundamental knowledge. Case studies are an important component of his teaching practice, along with his professionally developed materials. He has also researched and published several business cases, including with Ivey Publishing. CPHR-AB recognized Dr. Annett’s sustained and significant teaching accomplishments with their Legacy HR Educator Excellence Award.
Dr. Annett holds a Ph.D. in Business from the University of Alberta. Prior to joining MacEwan University, he worked as an HR professional in the Alberta Government, in roles that included human resources consultant, organizational effectiveness advisor and manager of HR Community Development & Talent Analytics.
