Workshops on Case Method of Teaching: INFORMATION

Workshop Information:

Case Research Society of India, a professional society formed to promote case method of teaching is pleased to announce a sequence of workshops on case method of teaching in Bombay, Bangalore and Madras

Need and Motivation:

Indian management schools are constantly directing more efforts towards adding value to their students by quality education. Quality education is a consequence of competent faculty, motivated students, and an appropriate pedagogy.

It is well known that management education at the post-graduate level can be made extremely effective by the case method of instruction. This pedagogy was pioneered by Harvard Business School based on its experience in teaching law and medicine.

Over a period of time, several management institutions in India have systematically adopted the case method of instruction. Several institutions are making a transformation towards this instruction methodology. Often, the faculty members need to be reoriented or trained in case method of teaching.

This workshop is motivated by the firm belief that there is a need to train, reorient, re-energize, and reactivate management faculty from various business schools on case method of teaching.

To whom:

  • Teachers from business schools in India
  • Trainers from large industrial organizations
  • Senior HR executives who are involved in training related activities

Admission to Workshop:

  • Nominations are invited from teachers of management schools affiliated to universities or approved by AICTE or private management schools. The application form can also be downloaded from the CRSI website (www.caseresearch.org).
  • In order to be effective, the maximum class size is restricted to 40.
  • Preference will be given to those faculty members who have an opportunity to use case method of instruction in their regular work environment.
     

Workshop Resource Persons:

  • Faculty from reputed management schools in India and from the Industry would form the resource team

Objectives:

  • Appreciate the complexities involved in the case method of teaching
  • Understand the role of instructors in the case method of teaching
  • Realize the need, depth, and level of preparation necessary to conduct excellent Case-based teaching sessions

This is a non-residential programme. The course fee includes access to the workshop, workshop material, breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks.

Case Research Society of India

The Case Research Society of India is a Professional Society formed with the following objectives.

  • To promote case method of teaching as an important and relevant pedagogical tool in the context of Indian business schools.
  • To promote case writing and case method of teaching among Indian management professionals, teachers and academicians.
  • To introduce and evolve case based research as an effective way of resolving complex managerial situations.
  • To help academicians, researchers and trainers in understanding case writing, case method of teaching and help them to develop competencies in these areas.
  • To conduct workshops, conferences relevant and related to case method of teaching, case writing and case based research.
  • To generate a reservoir of cases relevant in the context of Indian sub-continent.
